Dear Partners, Dear Members and Dear Friends,

On the occasion of the UNFCCC COP 24 (3-14 December 2018) organized in Katowice, Poland, the "4 per 1000 Initiative: Soils for Food Security and Climate" organizes, in partnership with the University of Silesia, the 2nd "4 per 1000 Initiative Day" on December 13, 2018.

This day, that will be held one year after the first edition, will become annual on the sidelines of the UNFCCC COPs and will bring together the 4th meeting of the Consortium of Members and the 3rd meeting of the Forum of Partners of the Initiative.

The venue for this special day will be the University of Silesia in Katowice, founded in June 1968, which takes its name from its geographical location, the Silesian Voivodeship. With more than 37,000 students, this University is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

This 2nd "4 per 1000 Initiative" day will be divided into the following:

•  A long half-day that will go beyond the lunch, with a high-level opening session, inspirational talks reporting successes on the ground and the 3rd Forum of Partners with plenary sessions and working groups, will be open to Members, Partners, “Friend Organizations” of the Initiative (organizations wishing to join the Initiative) ;

The end of afternoon will be dedicated to the 4th meeting of the Consortium, reserved only to Members of the Initiative. 

This day will end by a cocktail party where Members, Partners and Friends are welcome.

Throughout the day, a posters sessionconsecutive to the one held in Montpellier and Bonn will be organized in the same venue. Please refer to the dedicated page for more detailed information on the call for posters.

A detailed agenda will soon be posted on this website, as well as all preparatory documents. The event will be held in English and French.

The Scientific and Technical Committee will hold its 6th meeting in the library of the University of Silesia, on December 11 and 12, in order to report to the Forum and the Consortium, during the Initiative day.

You don't need an accreditation to access the Initiative day venue. Please note that the 4 per 1000 Secretariat is not in the position to offer you accreditation to attend the COP24 meeting. To this aim, refer to the COP24 website: http://cop24.katowice.eu/

Online registrations are now closed. It will be possible to register on site on Dec. 13 morning.
